Domaine des Anges 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon IGP Vaucluse

I was planted in 1973 by Malcom Swan. I'm not Bordeaux. I'm not Napa. I'm a dissenting voice on a mountain in Ventoux and Florent makes me. I'm the wine that says "this family did something no one else would do, and it worked." Proof you don't have to follow the rules to make something extraordinary.

In the glass

Riper and rounder than the Bordeaux model — blackcurrant, rich plum and cedar with a warm Provençal finish. Always zero added sugar.

Serve & pair

Roast lamb with thyme and rosemary, grilled ribeye or NY strip, braised short ribs, venison or other game. Burgers topped with aged cheddar or Roquefort.

How it was made

The grapes were handpicked before being crushed and destemmed. Throughout fermentation, temperature was kept at 24°C to preserve the primary fruit flavours. Pumpovers and maceration were conducted in such a manner as to optimize the extraction of soft full tannins with elegant concentration. The blend was aged for a further six months before being lightly filtered and bottled.

Producer

We're small. We're on a mountain. We've been here since 1973. Don't ask us to be bigger. Lured by the stunning view, seduced by romance of the vineyards. Des Anges was the first producer in the Ventoux appellation to estate bottle it's own wine and earned it's reputation as one of the leaders in this appellation. Winemaker Florent Chave has been introducing sustainable viticulture practices since 2007.
