Winery biography
"Founded in 1834, Domaine Tempier as we know it today was created in 1940, upon the marriage of Lucien Peyraud to Lucie Tempier. In 1941, with the assistance of neighbouring vignerons, Lucien worked with the Institut National des Appellations d'Origines (I.N.A.O.) to establish Bandol as its own A.O.C. It is, in part, because of this that he will forever be celebrated as the Godfather of Bandol. After Lucien's retirement and subsequent passing in 1996, his sons, François and Jean-Marie, carried on the family traditions at the domaine. They have now passed the torch to the young, energetic, and talented Daniel Ravier. Through their passion, pioneering, and advocacy for Bandol, the Peyrauds have become legendary. The wines of Domaine Tempier stand as the proud benchmarks when talking about Provençal wines putting Bandol on the map."
