A refreshing and round Rosé that carefully balances perfumed fruit, crisp minerality, and juicy acidity to elicit the same feelings as seeing a bright burst of summer sun peeking out from behind fluffy clouds. Warm weather helped to produce an exceptional and opulent vintage.

95% Grenache 5% Syrah

In 1989, when Irishman Gay McGuinness first drove up a hilltop where the Romans once camped, he did not realize that he was going to meet his future, and a great love. The French call it a "coup de foudre." Gay simply fell in love with the beauty and spirit of the place. Today, winemaker Florent Chave maintains an intimate connection to his fields and his vines. The wines he hand-makes from the classic grapes of the Southern Rhône: Syrah, Grenache, Roussanne, Grenache Blanc, and Bourboulenc, are as special as the vineyard they were born in. Using the best modern practices, while respecting nature and tradition, and resolutely keeping what they do "within the span of one man's hand" Florent and his small team create exceptional, award winning wines on a French hillside across the valley from Mont Ventoux, the Giant of Provençe.

PALATE

Expressive aromas of red berries waft from the glass and lead to a creamy character and rich flavours of red currants and cherries that dance cheek-to-cheek with refreshing minerality and a subtle hint of ginger on the finish.

PLACE

The Ventoux is located in the southeastern region of the Rhône, marking the gateway between the Rhône and Provençe. It is known for the limestone in its soils. Situated at 350m on a hillside across the valley from Mt Ventoux. Soils range from calcareous clays to rich stony ferrous. The vineyard benefits from cooling evening breezes in summer.

DRINKABILITY

Drink now through 2018.

PERSONALITY

Grapes were hand-picked, crushed, and de-stemmed. Juice macerated with the skins for 24 hours. Skins are pressed and juice is cold-settled for 48 hours before racking. Fermented at 12˚C in stainless steel tanks - no ML. Lightly filtered prior to bottling.

PAIRING

Perfect on its own or accompanied by herb-roasted chicken, grilled fish, a cold seafood platter, or a selection of cheeses. Serve chilled.
