When it comes to high-class Californian wines, The Sum is "an absolute steal," exclaims Robert Parker, "Don't dare pass it by!" Need we say more?

75% Cabernet Sauvignon15% Petite Syrah10% Syrah

The Seventy Five Wine Company revels in expressing California wine country's sun, earth, and abundance that begins in the vineyard. It's as much about what they don't do; namely manipulating wine. Named after the year that the Beckstoffer family laid down roots in Napa Valley; it was founded by Tuck Beckstoffer, son of the legendary Andy Beckstoffer, to perpetuate and honour the inspiration of the landmark year that was 1975, which also saw the founding of Microsoft, and the debut of Saturday Night Live. Tuck is a rare breed of Napa vigneron who is as much a farmer as a winemaker, with roots that go deep into the history of Napa's farming culture. Drawing on his experience in the vineyard, as well as, as a winemaker, he is dedicated to pioneering change promising premium wines that over-deliver on every expectation: quality, pedigree, and price. Crafting every day wine for the well informed.

PALATE

Blueberries, espresso, and dark chocolate leap from the glass in this full-bodied and multilayered red blend caressed by . Medium to full-bodied, silky smooth with supple tannins. It has a decidedly plumier profile than their 75 Cab Sauv.

PLACE

Drawing upon fruit from less expensive family estate, Tuck utilizes his farming connections to top off the fruit in the wine. 80% is vinified at the estate. Fruit comes from Ukiah, San Luis Obisp and Becstoffer vineyards. 2013 was an ideal season, with moderate temperatures, very little rain and consistently dry and warm weather, this lead to the earliest harvest in more than 25 years.

DRINKABILITY

Drink now through 2028.

PERSONALITY

It's what is NOT done to the wine that makes a difference. No MegPurple, oak powder, oak chips., oak extract, tea bagging, spinning, fke tannins., added residual sugar, added brandy, or added acid. This is not highly processed wine wine, an anomaly in its price category.

PAIRING

Delicious alongside veal, roast chicken, braised short ribs, pork tenderloin, tomato-based pasta dishes, heartier seafood dishes, tuna tartare, grilled salmon, and of course a big juicy steak.
